A project exploring interactive poetry that is crafted in a digital space.

This game is an HTML project embedded into the itch/io website and works on both phones and laptops.  Although you can play the game as embedded, it is best to play it as a fullscreen experience (which can be done by clicking the lower right arrows in the embedded game).

You can play this poetry game in solitary reflection, or in close community with people around you via passing the device around, learning each other's words, and/or your own, in this digital humanities' rendition of long-held traditions in storytelling and wordplay.

The images featured in the game are public domain images sourced from Pexels

This poetry game seeks to engage folks at the intersection of poetry-making and community dialogues on themes of social justice and empowerment, especially to create a space to collaborate in the writing of such poetry.

For this project, I considered the following questions:

  1. How can the digital sphere be used to engage diverse and disparate communities in shared forms of creativity?
  2. What effects, modalities, practices, or objects are produced thanks to the engagement of these communities?

Here, I defined "communal creativity" as "the practices wherein people collaborate in order to create art with justice- and empowerment-based purposes."
